On January 22, the Lincoln County Health Director cancelled the water activity advisory for Millstream Road in Denver.
The advisory was originally issued on Thursday, January 15, 2026, when approximately 50 gallons of untreated sewage may have flowed into an unnamed tributary of Forney Creek due to a clog in a manhole caused by the accumulation of fats, oils and grease. The decision to cancel the advisory is based on daily water sample testing conducted by Lincoln County Public Utilities from the sites at the affected area. Lincoln County Environmental Health was notified today that two consecutive samples showed test results below the required maximum levels and all sampling at these sites now meet the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality standards, therefore the water activity advisory has been lifted. The Lincoln County Public Utilities Department would like to remind the community to properly dispose of fats, oils and grease to help prevent clogs.
