Here at LCAS, we strive to provide a seamless adoption process that helps strengthen the Human-animal bond. If you are looking to adopt a dog, please review the information below to ensure that your process is as smooth as possible.

Veterinary Care: All of our adoptable dogs have already been spayed/neutered and microchipped. They have also received at least their first round of core vaccinations, deworming and flea treatment. All adoptable dogs have been heartworm tested, and heartworm positive dogs begin their pre treatment while at the shelter. We partner closely with https://www.hatsalive.org/ to provide a sponsorship towards heartworm treatment at a veterinarians office.

If you are interested in meeting adoptable dogs at the shelter, please schedule an appointment: Walk ins are welcome, but they are subject to a longer wait time. https://lincolncountyanimalservices.setmore.com

When you arrive for an appointment, you will check in at the front desk, and be give the option to view our available dogs via a kiosk in the lobby if you haven't done so already. Our dogs become extremely stressed when people walk through the kennels, and they don't always present as their best selves. In you request to view the dogs in their kennels, then you will be walked through a hallway and given the opportunity to view the adoptable dogs through a glass window. Once you have decided which dogs that would like to meet n' greet with, then a staff member will get the dogs out one at a time to interact with you in one of our play yards, or our meet n' greet room.

Introductions to your other pets: We strongly encourage for you to bring your other dogs for a meet n' greet prior to bringing your new dog home. When you arrive at the shelter or PetSmart, please leave your personal dogs in your vehicle with the air condition running, and check in at the front desk, or with the PetSmart adoption team, respectively.

PetSmart: We have adoptable dogs at the Lincolnton PetSmart every Saturday from 10:30 am - 3:30 pm. Appointments are not needed to visit with the dogs at PetSmart.

Other Offsite Adoption Events: In order to provide our dogs with the opportunity to view new places and meet new people, we frequently schedule offsite adoption events. Appointments are not needed to visit with the dogs at offsite events, unless otherwise posted.
