Lincoln County Public Utilities had a discharge of untreated wastewater on June 30, 2022 of an estimated 10,000 gallons from a manhole at the intersection of NC Hwy 73 and NC Hwy 16. It is estimated that 6,000 gallons of untreated wastewater was discharged into Forney Creek Tributary 1A for approximately seven hours. The discharge was reported to the Public Utilities Division at 2:12PM and normal flow restored in the sewer line at 9:11PM. Grease and rags were removed and the gravity main was jetted to prevent further discharge.
