FRIDAY JANUARY 23, 2026 UPDATE:
According to the US National Weather Service Greenville-Spartanburg winter weather is currently expected to begin around 1pm Saturday, with the most dangerous conditions Saturday night through Sunday morning. Precipitation will start as sleet and freezing rain, then transition to freezing rain Sunday morning.
- Ice accumulations of 0.5 to 0.75 of an inch is possible in #LincolnCountyNC. “Please prepare now for a CRIPPLING ICE STORM,” says the US National Weather Service Greenville-Spartanburg. Expect hazardous travel. Stay home. This keeps you safe and our Lincoln County First Responders safe.
- Power outages are highly likely, and repairs may take longer than usual. Prepare now for extended impacts. Please follow your energy provider for the latest updates.
- Lincoln County Offices will be closed Monday January 26, due to the pending weather conditions anticipated over the weekend. Further, Tuesday, January 27th, will be on a 2-hour delay.
- Lincoln County Parks and Rec will close all parks and facilities starting at 1pm Saturday until further notice.
- Lincoln County Library will close all library branches at 1pm Saturday.
- Convenience sites and Landfill will close at 5 pm Saturday.
- Lincoln County Animal Services will close the shelter at 1pm Saturday.

A Winter Storm Watch has been issued by US National Weather Service Greenville-Spartanburg SC from 7am Saturday to 1pm Monday for our area. Forecast indicates greater impacts from ice and sleet and less impact from snow. Hazardous travel and widespread power outages are possible with this storm. Power outages could last for multiple days. Specific amounts remain uncertain. Lincoln County will provide important updates on website and social media pages regarding any County closures and storm impacts including Convenience Sites and Landfill.
