ATTENTION EXOTIC ANIMAL OWNERS:
Registered OR nonregistered owners that currently have a Crocodilian, Medically Significant Arachnid, Inherently Dangerous Exotic Mammal, Large Constricting Snake or Venomous Snake in their possession must apply for a Grandfathered Exotic Animal Permit prior to February 4th, 2026, in order to be considered for a Grandfathered Exotic Animal Permit.
Please note that common non traditional pets such as Bearded Dragons and Geckos that are available for purchase at your local pet store are not required to be registered.
Exempt organizations such as licensed North Carolina Wildlife Rehabilitators, Accredited Zoological Parks and Petting Zoos that are permitted by the United States Department of Agriculture shall also complete the same application in order to be considered for an Exempted Exotic Animal Permit.
